Book Review - Impromptu, by Judith Humphrey
Recommended read for some tactical advice and templates on improving your impromptu conversations.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Read below for my five takeaways from this book.
💫 Impromptu and spontaneous conversations - Understanding that these days conversations are everywhere, in the offices, elevators, corridors, parking lots, restrooms, meeting rooms, cafeterias, restaurants, airplanes, golf courses and not just behind podiums. 🗣️
💫 Bring authenticity to your conversations - Sharing your presence, ideas, beliefs, values, feelings, vulnerabilities and stories to connect with your audiences. 🔗
💫 Read your audience - Understand the importance of reading your audience before (subject knowledge), during (engagement), after(feedback) you speak with them. 🔁
💫 Create a successful impromptu speech using a simple template - Collect your thoughts, open with short personal grabber, choose an inspiring message, provide proof points and close with a call to action. 📖
💫 Choose your words - To strengthen your impromptu language, keep the four C’s in mind: be clear, conversational, confident and collaborative. 🔤
